Wall Push-up
These notes combine advice from 7 reviewed passages across 7 workouts.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”The wall push-up is performed by pressing slowly against the wall, returning downward under control, and breathing throughout the repetition. The demonstrated setups vary the distance from the wall and may use angled bars. [1] [2] [6]
Wall push-ups can also prepare the upper body for handstand practice. In the described sequence, regular push-ups are followed by ten wall push-ups before entering the handstand. [4]
Technique and setup
Section titled “Technique and setup”When using bars for the movement, place them at an angle that feels comfortable and descend as low as possible toward the bottom position. [2]
Programming and progression
Section titled “Programming and progression”When wall push-ups come before bar work, the repetition target can be reduced to preserve strength for the bar. In the recorded sequence, the target was lowered from twelve to ten for this reason. [3]
In the described pressure-based progression, complete the familiar wall-supported version before moving to the version called the middle variation. [7]
