Explosive Pull-up
These notes combine advice from 4 reviewed passages across 3 workouts.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Explosive pull-up practice develops pulling power by making speed the priority. The main cue is to pull as quickly as possible while imagining that the bar is moving toward the stomach rather than that the body is simply rising above it. [1]
Progression
Section titled “Progression”Begin by familiarizing the body with the descent. After that pattern is established, practice the movement with added weight before returning attention to the upward phase. [2]
High-pull-up technique
Section titled “High-pull-up technique”When practicing the high-pull-up form, place strong emphasis on the false grip and aim to bring the bar below the chest at the intended angle. The quality of this position matters more than accumulating repetitions or sets. A resistance band may be used for assistance. [3]
As the movement reaches the transition, change the intent from pulling upward to pressing downward from above. Maintain the false-grip emphasis, with band assistance available when needed. [4]
