Straight-bar Dip

These notes combine advice from 2 reviewed passages across 2 workouts.

The straight-bar dip is a bar-based pushing movement in which the chest descends below the bar before the body is pulled upward. It requires strength through a deep pushing range, and strong, deep push-ups provide useful preparation. [1] [2]

Lower the chest beneath the bar as deeply as possible, then pull upward from the bottom position. [1]

Build strong push-ups with substantial depth before progressing to the straight-bar dip. The ability to push effectively from a deep position supports the transition to working below the bar. [2]
