V-sit
These notes combine advice from 9 reviewed passages across 7 workouts.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”V-sit is a body position distinct from L-sit. Moving toward it from an A-sit or L-sit involves lifting or drawing the legs higher while shifting the hips slightly forward. Supported V-sit work also depends on active downward pressure to create clearance. [2] [5] [6] [9]
Position and progression
Section titled “Position and progression”Treat V-sit and L-sit as separate positions. From an A-sit, lift the legs higher and bring the hips slightly forward to approach the V position. [2] [5] [6]
From a classic L-sit, first hold for 10 seconds. In the second version, shift the hips slightly forward and draw the straight feet toward the body. Perform the hands-to-floor stretch with the feet extended after the first hold. [5] [6]
Grounded V variation
Section titled “Grounded V variation”Keep the feet on the floor and the knees together in the grounded V variation. Placing the hands farther behind reduces the balance demand. Compress inward as far as possible, then open slowly while reaching forward with pointed toes. Keep the body tense and lengthened instead of collapsing onto the floor. [3] [4]
Transition placement
Section titled “Transition placement”During the shared transition used for wolf, L-sit, V-sit, and bent-knee variations, lean the body forward and send the foot directly to the single rear placement point. Use that point even with a bent leg, and avoid setting the foot elsewhere before straightening or correcting it. [1]
Speed and body shift
Section titled “Speed and body shift”In one V-shaped lift variation, using more speed made the movement easier than lifting slowly from the same position. [7]
Once the body is already in a V position, pulling the leg inward naturally shifts the body slightly backward into a V-sit. [8]
Support and clearance
Section titled “Support and clearance”Press downward through the hands during supported V-sit work. This active pressure helps create the required clearance. [9]
A shortfall of only 2-3 cm may reflect too little downward pressure and a need to move slightly farther into V-sit. Arm length was ruled out in the specific correction where this occurred. [9]
